"END VOGUE" →

My album for 2012 is now available. Produced by Drew Stoeckel (of James Rabbit), who engineered and mixed it, and myself. Please go listen, download and share with people. Thank you.

P.S. As a bonus track, the digital release features a remix of “Hapax” by the great Vyxor. Endless thanks to him.

P.P.S. Rachel Swan of the East Bay Express was kind enough to cover the album in her Local Licks column on 7/24/12.

From the brand new (as in, now available) S. Owen album END VOGUE, it’s the music video for “Water Drinkers” (dir. Alec Owen). Go watch it full(er) size.

From the hallowed vintage of 2003 emerges the official music video for one of my trademark tunes, “Experimental Prototype Song of Tomorrow” (watch full size). Originally from the now-lost debut album MALHEUR LN., now a live staple. Video directed by the experimental filmmaker Omar De Leon. (Though this is its original incarnation, it’s the song’s 3rd appearance on YouTube, first from this live version [mutated African loop style], then on the Knock & Rock series.)

Collaborator roll call

- Goodbye the Band - The auteur/genius/godhead of New Jersey. My favorite. (Also the guy behind the production of “Water Drinkers.”) Go to that link and listen to everything there.

James Rabbit - Irrepressibly wonderful, academically faultless pop music out of Santa Cruz. I play live with them when possible, record with them similarly, and even co-wrote a couple of tunes that feature on the incredible, recent best-of compilation EXPRESS (“Machetes,” “Batso [Prom Version]”).

Sean Smith - I often play drums (et al) to support this friend & brilliant guitarist’s vision. Contributed to the LPs called ETERNAL (2008) and HUGE FLUID FREEDOM (2010).

- Bird By Snow - The spirit & mind of Gnome Life Records label honcho Fletcher Tucker as translated into music with interpretive accompaniment by me (esp. on SKY [2006], SONGBREAD/ANOTHER OCEAN [2009] and COMMON WEALTH [2010]).
